Zagori is a mountainous area in the region of Epirus. Throughout the area there are scattered 46 villages containing traditional dwellings, slate-roofed buildings, cobbled alleyways and Basilica churches. Zagori is also the location of the Vikos Gorge, whose steep walls of 1040m channel the Voidomatis river.
Your tour begins by visiting the famous group of villages known as Zagorochoria. You will walk along its cobblestone paths and climb to the high arched stone-bridges over the Voidomatis River, following the track to the Vikos Gorge. This gorge is famous both for its dimensions and the wide variety of pharmaceutical herbs that grow along the riverbanks.
You will have the opportunity to rest in one of the picturesque squares of these traditional villages, and taste their famous pies, roasted meat, local wine and tsipouro.
During this tour you will first visit the village of Kipoi and then move on to Dilofo village.
The next stop on your tour is the village of Monodentri where you can admire the highlight of the area, the famous Vikos Gorge. On your way there you can enjoy the magnificent view of St. Paraskevi near the edge of the gorge.
