Charmed by royal residences and impressive views? Join us on an afternoon guided tour at Achilleion to discover this must-see sight of Corfu.
Achilleion is one of the busiest museums in Greece and can get really crowded in the morning and around noon. Why not take a more relaxed early evening tour and make the most of your visit at this beautiful royal residence? It is usually cooler in the afternoon and you can really enjoy a stroll in the lush gardens of the palace.
On this tour you will explore the magnificent summer residence of Empress Elisabeth of Austria, also known as Princess Sissy; after her untimely death Achilleion was purchased by Wilhelm II, Emperor of Germany. Your guide will narrate the story of the residence and will show you around the different halls to admire exquisite works of art and furnishings. The gardens are simply marvelous, featuring statues of great Greek figures, the “Peristyle of the Muses” as well as the iconic statue of Achilles, the Homeric hero of the Iliad (the residence is named after him).
